Mickey Thorne

VINA, AL – Mickey Dale Thorne, 73, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023 at his residence.  He was born in Alabama to Troy and Josie Jones Thorne.  He graduated from Red Bay High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1972. His passion was flying and this led him on many different adventures across the country. He lived his life by his own rules. 

A short memorial service will be Monday, April 3, 7 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Jordan Ruple officiating.  Burial will be in Pleasant Site Cemetery, Red Bay, AL.  Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his daughter- Ginger Thorne Tompkins (Mike), son-Jeremy Cain Thorne (Tina), 4- Grandchildren- Alyssa Tompkins, Brooke Tompkins, Chloe Thorne and Chance Thorne, Sister- Jeanette Terrell, Brothers-in-law- Neal Mathis and Junior Mann, his life partner Diane Cutshall and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson- Blake Michael Tompkins, sisters- Dorothy Mann, Paulette Winchester and Barbara Mathis, a brother-in-law- Paul Winchester, a nephew- Steve Mann and a niece Lisa Winchester.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Terrell, Weston Terrell, Josh Ruple, Jordan Ruple, Mark Mann, David Mann, Ethan Winchester, David Green, Neal Mathis and Zane Foster.Visitation will be Monday, April 3, 5-7 p.m. and will continue after the service that begins at 7, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
