RED BAY, AL –Jerry Wayne Umfress, 77, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Helen Keller Hospital. He was born in Alabama to Rev. Earl Umfress and Rosetta Jackson Umfress. He was a sawmill worker for 25 years.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 21, 3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Larry Bates officiating. Burial will be in Pilot Hill Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Sue Umfress, Daughter- Rebecca Cummings (Danny), Sons- Jeff Umfress (Rhonda), Bradley Umfress (Selena), Jerry Umfress Jr., Grandchildren- Natasha Wood (Tyler), Christopher Cummings, Amanda Barber (Jason), Tyler Umfrees (Carlee), Julie Scott (Colton), 7- Great Grandchildren, 1- Brother- Earl Umfress Jr. (Belynn) and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3- Brothers- L.D., Bob and Lewis Umfress, 1- Sister Olene Bates and a son-in-law Richard Cummings.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Cummings, Tyler Umfress, Dakota Vinson, Bailey Timmons, Ayden Vinson, Sean Gross, Tyler Wood.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gavin Vinson and Colton Scott
Visitation will be Saturday, January 21, 1-3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
