Harold Jackson

PLANO, IL – John Harold Jackson, of Plano, Illinois passed away Monday, January 16, 2023 at The Pearl of Orchard Valley in Aurora, Illinois. He was born July 3, 1933 in Red Bay, Alabama the son of Dillard and Minnie (Creekmore) Jackson. He married Doskie Humphries on October 2, 1954 in Mississippi. He was a member of the Boiler Makers blacksmith union for many years. He loved fishing and gardening. Most of all he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

John is survived by two sons, Johnny (Martha) Jackson of Middleburg, Florida, and Matthew (Jennifer) Jackson of Plano, Illinois; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Louise (Hollis) Holland of Red Bay, Alabama; two brothers, Bob Jackson, and Gary (Diane) Jackson, both of Aurora, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Doskie; their children, Angie Medernach, Patsy Meszaros, Tommy Jackson; grandchildren, Victoria, and Jennifer Medernach; three brothers, James Creekmore, Junior, and Charlie Jackson; and one sister, Doris Jackson.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano, Illinois. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on August 25, 2023 at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay, Alabama. A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before the memorial service. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Vina, Alabama.
