News from American Legion Marion Self Post 120; April meeting set

A lot has happened within our Post with the loss of Frankie Smith as Commander. In order to ensure continuation of our Post, we have made significant changes to our officers as well as other Post guidelines.

Our April meeting will be held April 22, 2020 at Red Bay City Hall at 6 p.m. In order for our organization to continue, we need your help and your input. There is much to discuss, and we know that with your help we will be able to move forward with our missions.

Further, I want to remind the public – all our meetings are open and your presence is WELCOMED and encouraged!  Any person who would like to volunteer to assist our Post is welcomed to.  We are discussing the formation and sponsoring the “Veterans Volunteers” group!  Exciting times!  Without our volunteer workers, we would not have enjoyed the successful campaigns we have put together the last three years!

After an audit of our books, there are several members who have not remitted their 2020 dues.  Please contact either myself (Janice Beal, 205-712-0424) or Waymon Blacklidge (256-483-0014).  Payment may be made by mailing checks to:

American Legion Post 120

P.O. Box 1231

Red Bay, Al 35582

All membership dues are due on July 1 each year.  We will be implementing a reminder system and apologize for any confusion.

If you know of a Veteran in need of help, have questions about the American Legion or for membership information please feel free to contact us at either the address and phone numbers listed above OR by EMAIL at americanlegionpost120@yahoo.com!

Again, it is of the utmost importance that everyone who possibly can to please attend this meeting. Veterans helping Veterans.

– Janice Beal, American Legion Post 120

Crews from the Red Bay Street Department worked Tuesday morning to clear debris from a home on 11th Avenue, where a retaining wall for the street collapsed, sending rip rap, mud and crossties into the home. The street has suffered significant damage from all the rain received this year.
