GOLDEN, MS – Birda Mae Gann, 90, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at her residence. She was born September 10, 1930 to Jesse Nelson and Mary Melvirdie Griffus. She worked as a seamstress for forty years and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Vina, AL.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 25, 3 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Bro. Kevin Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Vina, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by seven children, four sons – Leroy Gann (Brenda), Michael Palmer, Phillip Palmer (Kathy) and Terry Gann (Gail); three daughters – Brenda Reese (Steve), Sandra Palmer (Karl) and Nancy Riddle (Larry Elrod, Jr.); twenty-six grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; one brother – Bill Griffus and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eules Gann, two daughters, Shirley Patterson and Betty Barnett, two sons, Johnny Gann and Charles Gann, her parents, three grandchildren, Jason Pierce, Bridgett Barnett and Joseph Gann, one great-grandchild, Katlynn Palmer and a host of brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Jarrett Riddle, Casey Wigginton, Dawson Fralix, Hayden Wigginton, Briley Palmer, Chestin Kent and Luke Kent.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 24, 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL and she will lie in state Thursday, February 25, 1-3 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church.
