IUKA | Fans packed the grounds of Iuka’s Drive-In Theater on Saturday, June 27, to enjoy an outdoor activity and the uplifting music and message from Christian music artists TobyMac and Michael Cochren of Cochren & Co.

Next up for Iuka: legendary artists Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith, along with Mac Powell on July 25. Tickets are sold on per-parking-spot basis, with six-people per car per ticket, and range from $100 to $175, plus service fees.

While the TobyMac concert sold out, there may still be tickets available for the July 6 show in Guin at the Blue Moon Theater. The Iuka show is the only one scheduled locally for Chapman, Smith and Powell. Likewise, fans of Casting Crowns can catch that group live on August 18 at the Blue Moon in Guin, but no show is planned in Iuka. Go online to DriveInTheaterTour.com to search for dates and tickets.

Drive-in theaters in Iuka and Guin are among several around the country hosting the outdoor concerts this year, produced by Awakening Events.

Concertgoers are allowed to have six people per vehicle, and they can sit in their vehicle or outside their vehicle in lawn chairs or on a blanket and experience the outdoor concert, but they must remain in their parking space. Social distancing measures in place at the time in each location will be followed, according to event organizers. No outside concessions or coolers are allowed, and there will be no recreational activities such as frisbee, baseball, or running. No oversized vehicles, such as RVs or buses, will be allowed.

Gates open at 6:30 p.m., with the concerts starting at dusk and will take place regardless of the weather.
