Drive-in theaters in Iuka and Guin will be playing host this summer to live concert events featuring Christian artists TobyMac and Newsboys
Both groups announced Friday plans to tour the U.S. this summer, visiting drive-in theater sites along the way. Staging will be set up for each concert, with the show being projected on the theater screen. Tickets are being sold on per-parking-spot basis, with six-people per car per ticket, and range from $100 to $175, plus service fees. They are now on sale at Eventbrite.com.
Plans are for TobyMac to appear in Iuka at the Iuka Drive-In Theater on June 27 and at the Blue Moon Drive-In in Guin on July 6. Newsboys will be playing at the Blue Moon on June 24.
Concertgoers will be allowed to have six people per vehicle, and they can sit in their vehicle or outside their vehicle in lawn chairs or on a blanket and experience the outdoor concert, but they must remain in their parking space. Social distancing measures in place at the time in each location will be followed, according to event organizers. No outside concessions or coolers are allowed, and there will be no recreational activities such as frisbee, baseball, or running. No oversized vehicles, such as RVs or buses, will be allowed.
Gates will open at 6:30 p.m., with the concerts starting at dusk and will take place regardless of the weather.
