GOLDEN, MS – Charles Robert Ridge, 82, died Thursday, April 9, 2020 at NMMC, Tupelo, MS. He was born in Red Bay, AL to Earl and Janie Parsons Ridge. He was a machine mechanic for Blue Bell in Red Bay and retired from H.I.S. in Belmont. He also worked on the family farm. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was the first Fire Chief of the Banner Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Graveside services we be Monday, April 13, 2 p.m. at Ridge Cemetery, Golden, MS with Bro. David Holcomb and Bro. Billy Nichols officiating. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL was in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years-Barbara Tharp Ridge; four children-John Ridge (Emily) of Chattanooga, TN, Rita Maxwell (LD) and James Ridge (Wanda) all of Golden and Donna Shurlds (Dudley) of Maben, MS; fifteen grandchildren-Jordan, Katlynn, Jackson, Conner, Kate, Bradley, Zackary, Morgan, Heather, Josh, Kevin, Clay, Elizabeth, Henry and Richard; thirteen great-grandchildren including Harleigh and Grayson Ridge both of whom he helped raise.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-Earl Homer Ridge and two sisters-Jean Kennedy and Lola Faye Ridge.
