It is very important that EVERYONE in Red Bay is counted in the 2020 US Census. If you have received a Census registration form in the mail, please complete the form and return it by US Mail as soon as possible. There is no postage due to return the form. If you did not receive a form by mail, you will need to file online. The website is 2020census.gov. The online process is simple and takes less than five minutes to complete.
The Census helps keep our taxes low. Each year, the federal government uses Census data to distribute $1,567 per Alabamian for health care, education, public safety, highways, housing and other community programs. If Alabamians don’t participate in the Census, our state and local taxes may increase to make up the difference. Alabama deserves our fair share of funding for each person living in our state.
The Census determines how many people represent Alabama in Congress. Due to our state’s slow population growth, we are in danger of losing up to two of our seven congressional seats. We will lose the same number of electoral college votes, and that means Alabama will have less of a voice in electing the president and vice-president of the United States.
On or before Census Day, April 1, 2020 please be counted! I urge everyone to
register for the 2020 US Census and make Red Bay count!
Mayor of Red Bay
