RED BAY, AL – David Charles Grimes, 68, passed away Friday, February 7, 2020 at the Red Bay Hospital. He was born in Tupelo, MS to Albert Thomas and June Johnston Grimes. He was a member of The Church of God in Moulton. He had worked for Page Chevrolet for ten years and was currently employed at Bay Diesel.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 10, 3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Brandon Keel and Bro. Tim Winters officiating. Burial will be in Halltown Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by two children-Dana Grimes (Ross Barker) and David Grimes Jr. (Tonia); his very special friend-Marie Cole and her son Michael Cole (Kelley); grandchildren-Kara Grimes, Brady Grimes (Holley), Devon Nichols, Hayden Nichols, Derek Cole (Crystal), Matthew Cole (Renee), Brandon Cole (Bailey), Cody Wilkinson (Skylar) and Katie Johnston (Tristan); great-grandchildren-Lannah Lovelace, Brynlee Cole, Madelyn Cole, Bentley Cole and Olivia Wilkinson; one sister-Lynette Norris (Chester); one brother-Donalhue Grimes; brother-in-law-Hal Johnson and special friend-David Barksdale.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother-Thomas Lavonne Grimes and one sister-Janice Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Josh Anders, Brian Denard, Kenneth Denard, Dustin Graves, Frankie Graves, Mitchell Chance and Tim Seal. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Morrow, David Reynolds, Anthony Spencer, Thomas Pantoja, Aaron Cagle, Jason Massey, Jimmy Creekmore, Benny Parrish and Brandon Kennedy.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 9, 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
