As a student of American History, I have always been infatuated with certain periods of United States history. Some of our history is very dark and shameful, and some of our history is glorious and to be encouraged even more.
Unfortunately, we are in a dark time in our nation’s history at this writing. Evil forces have gotten a degree of power within our government, and their debauchery can only be summed up as monumental and completely horrendous!
These evildoers are hell-bent on keeping the powers they have and expanding their powers until they are in complete and total control. Then the damage and destruction that will rain down on this land will be so great and so severe that we will never be able to repair it!
What the United States House of Representatives has done to one of the greatest Presidents to ever occupy the White House is not only disturbing, it’s downright hateful! Never have I seen such a degree of hate by a group of people for one person and his family. The hate is of such magnitude they will stop at nothing, and I mean nothing, to get President Trump out of the Oval Office.
This group calls themselves “Patriots.” They have even blasphemed the name of God in their overthrow attempts. I’m afraid they will soon find themselves on rock bottom looking up. They will soon find out what it means to reap what you sow.
But this attempt to thwart freedom and justice will fail just like all of the other times in our nation’s history. They will fail for one reason and one reason only – the church is on her face right now interceding. The church is crying out to Almighty God to intervene and bring our nation back to the greatness that she once was.
This is not the first time that there has been such an attempt to stop something good that is happening in the country. I can think of at least two other times that evil people stood in the way of freedom and justice.
The first that comes to mind is in the 1950s. President Eisenhower wanted the Congress to pass the Civil Rights Act, but because the Democrat-controlled congress didn’t want him to have credit for this historic bill, they stopped the legislation. (It wasn’t passed until 1964 so Democratic President Lyndon Johnson could sign this bill into law.) What a crying shame that politics kept millions of people from experiencing the freedoms they so deserved from happening for almost a decade.
The second one is the Montgomery Bus Boycott. A wonderful lady by the name of Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white passenger. She was arrested because she wouldn’t move to the back of the bus. This started the famous “Montgomery Bus Boycott” that eventually stirred the embers for Civil Rights in this country.
The KKK, made up of Southern Democrats, vehemently opposed blacks and other minorities having the right to vote or to get some of the public education white students were afforded. (Some of the most prominent Senators in the Democratic Party were members of the KKK before they went into politics.)
Now, that same party is causing major disunity in the country, and for what purpose? Certainly not to give or protect our freedoms. On the contrary, they are doing everything possible to turn us into some kind of socialism experiment. (They know full well that it won’t work here, just like it hasn’t worked anywhere else!)
It’s never been about equal rights; it’s always been about getting power and staying in power. Once we come to grips with that truth, then it becomes abundantly clear just exactly what’s going on in the country in our day.
These are dangerous, troubling times, but we know one thing is for sure: God is in control! We need to pray during this time, and then trust God that he knows exactly what’s going on, and in His perfect timing, will calm the storm and bring the peace that passes all understanding!
As my challenge to you during this tumultuous time, I challenge you to also fall on your knees and faces and ask God to bless America once again. I challenge you to pray for our leaders. We need to pray that they will turn to God and ask for His advice and direction.
I leave you with this Bible scripture. It is probably one of the most needed scriptures that I’ve ever shared, especially nowadays. It is 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
