Elcie Racine “Rae” Holt (nee Lewey), age 85, of Middleburg Hts., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.
She was born July 30, 1934, in Russellville, AL; daughter of the late Oscar B. and Gladys (nee Jarnigan) Lewey. She worked for American Greetings for over 30 years and loved her job. Rae was also a Girl Scout leader. She was a proud sister in Christ and an active member of Southwest Christian Church. Rae loved event planning and bookkeeping for the church and always kept herself busy. She loved crocheting, gardening, bowling, and never hesitated to try out a new recipe. Rae’s passion was cooking. She was proud of her southern roots. Thanks to PBS and the Food Network, she taught herself to cook meals from around the world. Most importantly, she loved her family and will be greatly missed.
Devoted wife of 63 years to Herbert “Ed” Holt; cherished mother of Susan (Jerry) Mlynek and Shari (Kevin) Holt-Komar; beloved grandmother of Shelby Holt-Komar, Charlotte Holt-Komar, JAK Holt-Komar, and Clara Mlynek; loving sister of Berlene (the late Jim) Puckett, Carl (Karen), Norris (Brenda) and Horace ( Pamela) Lewey, the late Talmadge, and the late Joseph; caring sister-in-law of Joann Holt, Ronald (Marybelle) Holt, and the late Emily (the late Chuck) Kennedy; treasured aunt, great aunt, and friend of many.
A memorial luncheon will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 12Noon – 1PM at Southwest Christian Church, 6717 Fry Rd., Middleburg Hts., OH 44130, followed by a Celebration of Life Ceremony from 1PM – 2PM.
