Two inmates escape from Franklin County Jail; one recaptured

Update: About 11 a.m. Friday morning, Feb. 22, Andy Hanson was captured during a traffic stop in Nettleton, Miss. He was being held there for possible transport to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.

From Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver:

Around 10:30 P.M. on Thursday, February 21, 2019, two inmates escaped from the Franklin County Jail after entering a plumbing access to reach the roof.  At the time of the escape, Corrections Officers were dealing with a fight within the jail that is believed to have been a diversion for the escape.

The escapees are Richie Oneal Landers and Andy John Hanson.  Landers was in jail on Probation Violation with original charge of a drug offense.  Hanson was also in jail on Probation Violation with original charge of burglary. Both had been sentenced for the Probation Revocations and were waiting transfer to prison.

DOB: 6/30/1973   Age: 45

White/Male, Brown Hair, Blue Eyes, 5’10”

Andy Hanson: Last known address: 1725 Co Rd 47, Winfield, AL 35594

DOB: 12/11/1991  Age: 27

White/Male, Black Hair, Blue Eyes, 5’6”
