Geraldine McCreary


BELMONT, MS – Gearldine Johnson McCreary, 92, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Red Bay Hospital. She was born in Golden, Ms., was a homemaker and had worked in retail sales for thirty years. She was a member of Siloam Methodist Church, New Site, Ms.

Services will be Friday, January 6, 2 p.m. at Siloam Methodist Church, New Site, Ms. with Bro. Earl McAnally and Mike Deaton officiating. Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery, New Site, Ms. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, Ms. will be in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are four children – Julia Sparks, Diane Stephenson, Rodney McCreary (Barb) and Douglas McCreary; special friend – Maxine Paden; eight grandchildren – Karen Garvin (Russ), Ted Sparks (Wendy), Dallas Downen, Joshua Morris (Vickie), Nicki Hopkins (Tony) Star Cross, Andrew McCreary and Rachel McCreary; fourteen great-grandchildren – Tim Garvin (Britney), Daniel Garvin (Britney), Katie Garvin, Tyler Sparks, Tanner Sparks, Nathaniel Gearhart, Kellyn Gibbard, Payton Morris, Jordan Morris, Caleb McCreary, Amiah Cross, Alivia Cross, Sam and Andrew Cross; four great-great-grandchildren – Mady Garvin, Justin Garvin, Ty Garvin and Emery Garvin; one sister – Osene Whitfield; two sisters-in-law – Lavelle McCreary and Jean McCreary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney McCreary, two daughters, Peggy McCreary and Vickie Morris; parents, George Johnson and Arie Thornton Johnson; a son-in-law, Harold Sparks and a special aunt and uncle, Wayne and Mary Brown.

Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Gearhart, Dayton Morris, Tim Garvin, Dan Garvin, Tyler Sparks and Tanner Sparks.Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, 6-8 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, Ms. and she will lie-in-state Friday, January 6, 12-2 p.m. at the church.
