RED BAY, AL – Joyce Cleta Holland Ozbirn, 77, died Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Florence, Al. after a brief illness. She was born in Franklin County, Al. She worked for Nielson Ratings in Chicago, Il. and was a secretary and underwriter for an insurance company and medical records for more than twenty years. She was a member of Goodsprings Freewill Baptist Church, Vina, Al.
Services will be Saturday, November 26, at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Humphries officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Vina, Al. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al. will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are two children – Kevin W. Ozbirn, Decatur, Ga. and Joyce K. Scott (Roger) Red Bay, Al.; three grandchildren – Melissa Scott, Cheryl Scott and Tyler Scott; one brother – Phona Holland (Esther) Waukegan, Il.; two sisters – Clarice Jackson, Red Bay, Al. and Nell Humphries, Haleyville, Al. and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne Ozbirn, parents, James Jefferson Holland and Dona Isabelle Jackson Holland, a brother, Roy Holland, a sister, Roxie Singleton and two infant brothers.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Scott, Jimmy Fowler, Donnie Jackson, David DeFoor, Steven Singleton and Charles Holland.
Visitation will be Friday, November 25, 5-8 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al. and she will lie in state Saturday, November 26, 10-11 a.m. at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
