HODGES, AL. – Foy James Guinn, 80, passed away at his home in Hodges, AL. He was born in Belgreen, AL on October 31, 1935. He attended Dempsey School and graduated from Belgreen High School in 1955 where he excelled in varsity basketball. He was married to Faye Hindman for 55 years and was employed by U. S. Reduction in Russellville, AL for over 25 years. He was a member of New Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Hodges, AL. He enjoyed gardening, farming, Alabama football, watching high school basketball and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, June 11, at 4 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Al. with Bro. Tony Wood officiating. Burial will be at Old Line Cemetery in Hodges.
Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al. will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife – Faye Hindman Guinn; daughters – Celia Sylvester (Don) Florence, AL and Neita Fannin (Aubrey) Huntsville, AL; one son – Tim Guinn (Sandy) Russellville, AL; grandsons – Michael Calvo (Nicole) Springfield, TN, Andrew and Avery Guinn, Russellville, AL; one granddaughter – Chloe Fannin, Huntsville, AL and one great-grandson – Tristen Calvo, Springfield, TN. He leaves behind one brother, Gillie Guinn (Zula Mae) Belgreen, AL as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miner Matthew and Nancy Safrona Guinn and four brothers, O. C., Troy, Voil and Orville Guinn.
Pallbearers will be fellow church members.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 11, from 2-4pm at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
