Two teachers were honored with the title of “Teacher of the Year” last week at Red Bay School. On May 13th at 1:00 p.m., Bonnie Gray, who has taught at Red Bay School for 25 years and plans to retire at the end of this school year, was chosen for Teacher of the Year for elementary school. Brandi Miller was chosen as Teacher of the Year for high school and has taught at Red Bay for 13 years.
“I have enjoyed teaching at my Alma Matter and have worked with some wonderful coworkers,” Gray said. “Seeing children achieve their goals and become successful students is my most favorite part of my job.”
Miller agreed, saying, “Because I teach high school, I get a glimpse into students’ lives as they are becoming young adults. I love it when I see them do well on something at school and when they come back and tell me later that what I taught them helped them in college or at work.”
“This was a huge honor for me,” Miller said. “I love what I do and feel very blessed to be teaching at Red Bay High School. All of the teachers here love their students and I am proud to be a part of such a great faculty and staff.”
Gray said she is looking forward to spending time with her family and traveling during her upcoming retirement. Becky Hester, who teaches Kindergarten at Red Bay School, will also be retiring this year.
