THOMPSONS STATION, TN. – R. Steven Griffus, 59, was born in Waukegan, Il. and peacefully passed from this life on August 24, 2015 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tn. He was surrounded by family, friends and clergy. He was currently employed at CHS, Brentwood, Tn. and held a B.S. from Carthage College and an MBA from Lake Forest College. He attended Thompsons Station Church and was active in church Bible Studies and served as a teacher, which he loved.
Services will be Friday, August 28, at 3 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Vina, Al. with Bro. Chuck Bailey and Bro. Duane Murray officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Vina, Al. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al. will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years – Carla Griffus, Thompsons Station, Tn.; one son – Andrew Griffus, 17 years of age, Thompsons Station, Tn.; his father and mother – J.W. Griffus and Cleo Griffus, Decatur, Al.; one sister – Barbara Baccus; brother-in-law – Bob Baccus, Braselton, Ga.; one uncle – Bill Griffus, Vina, Al.; one aunt – Birda Mae Gann, Golden, Ms. and numerous in-laws, relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Arlie Griffus, Hank Johnson, David Maxwell, Murvin Elrod, Danny Elrod and Nelson Elrod.
Visitation will be Friday, August 28, 1-3 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Vina, Al.
