RED BAY, AL. – Maudie Bell Dees, 71, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Generations of Red Bay. She was born in Franklin County, Al. to Estes and Magdelene Young Bishop. She worked at Golden Manufacturing for over 35 years. She was a member of Ten Acre Field and attended Vina First Baptist Church.
Services will be Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 4 p.m. at Vina First Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Nichols and Bro. Jeff Black officiating. Burial will be in Old Burleson Cemetery, Vina, Al. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al. will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are her husband of 56 years – Billy Dees, Red Bay, Al.; her mother – Magdelene Bishop, Vina, Al.; one brother – William Bishop, Vina, Al.; five sisters – Mary Elizabeth Mitchell, Martha Bishop and Shelby Bishop, all of Vina, Al. and Gloria McCarley and Shirley Mitchell (Aaron) all of Hamilton, Al. and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Estes Bishop, two brothers, Roy Bishop and Ray Bishop and her grandparents.
Pallbearers will be William Nelson Mitchell, David Brooks, Lee Bishop, Alex Mitchell, Paul Mitchell, Tony Comi and Rocky Bishop. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 28, 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al. and she will lie in state 1-4 p.m. on Sunday at the church.
