Bertha Jane Hammock, 102, of Golden died Sunday, December 30, 1990, at her residence. She was a homemaker and a native of Itawamba county. She was the widow of James Andrew Hammock. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church for 43 years and the Baptist church for 90 years. Services were held Tuesday, January 1, 1991, at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Holly, the Rev. Billy Senter and the Rev. R.V. Williams officiating. Burial followed in Ridge Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay was in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include four daughters, Lucille Beam, Murley Mayhall and Jean Bohannon, all of Golden, and Becky McFadden of Belmont; two sons, James Archie Hammock of Red Bay and Joseph Orbin Hammock of Golden; two stepdaughters, Rosa Thompson of Fisk, MO., and Mrs. Burk Greggs of Steels, MO.; one brother, Dave Barton of Gulfport, MS.; 18 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, 14 step-grandchildren.
