Funeral services were held for Gene Hoyt Shewbart of Red Bay, Saturday, March 11, 1967, at 2 p.m. at the Burnout Baptist Church.

The Rev. Paul Anglin and the Rev. Paul Thorn officiated. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Dean Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Shewbart, 29, died Mar. 9, 1967 at the Red Bay Hospital of gunshot wounds received in a hunting accident.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura Jane Shewbart; one son, Tony Gene; his mother, Mrs. Lottie Shewbart of Red Bay; one sister, Mrs. Locene Aycock of Russellville and two brothers, Junior Shewbart of Red Bay and Lelion Shewbart of Vina.

Mr. Shewbart was a Mason and a member of the National Guard.
